Spliced takes place in a science fiction, fantasy, horror universe set on an alien invaded Earth in the year 2314..
The aliens we know as the “Dirge” have been here for over 200 years.
In order to survive our impending extinction, we turned to artificial intelligence.

the aliens arrived in the year 2102. The aliens known as the Dirge crashed into our planet 200 years ago with every intent on taking over our world. They were smart, adaptable, aggressive, and we were unprepared. The Dirge saw humans as the workforce and our world as fertile and ripe for the taking.
They tried to make our planet more suitable for their needs by terraforming earth. it caused drastic changes to our atmosphere and gravity. We lost the abilities of air travel and space flight in the process, essentially cutting earth off from the rest of the galaxy. That’s when the A.I. named Ansel helped create “splicing.”

The process of splicing is the genetic altering of human dna by adding in or editing it by combining compatible animal DNA. The addition of bestial traits into the human genetic blueprint.
